Marchesa Marchesa

It was only about 5-6 months ago that I stumbled across this beauty of a label. Marchesa is a British born brand that specialises in stunningly elegant evening and cocktail dresses. The style of the dresses is said to have been cultivated from vintage and asian influences but together with expert draping, expensive lace and shining embellishments these dresses are hard to take your eyes off! There is something particularly enchanting and fantastical about them that attracts the eye and leaves you wondering about what you could sell in order to afford one (the answer, unfortunately, was nothing).

Having said that, it doesn't particularly matter whether you can afford one or not its more about the excited, inspiring feeling you get when you browse through them. I thoroughly encourage anyone who hasn't seen them before to take a peek at their designs, they really are amazing!

Boho Blocking

So as the summer is moving on we are starting to feel a distinct boho feel in the world of fashion. With brands such as Missoni and Proenza Schouler offering bold flowery prints in floaty chiffon-esque fabrics there is plenty of choice for those so inclined. Along with this floaty fashion is the trend I like to call boho blocking.  A boho block is a distinct hairstyle that consists of a messy long block fringe with long or short wavy, slightly beach-esque hair. Pioneers of this style are Freja Beha Erichsen and Alexa Chung:

I really love this style as it is so effortless and gives the wearer that fashionably laid back appearance, another obvious pro is that it is so easily managed (especially is you have naturally wavy hair!).Other followers of this style are: Daisy Lowe (Model), Karmen Pedaru (Model) and, last but not least, me!...

Now the jury is up on this one...it has gained some rather strong dislike from my mother who thinks the contrast between the long and short is too much. I however tend to disagree and like the effortlessness of it! Opinions welcome!
